As a storyteller by heart, Mariano David Otero’s work is a profound exploration of both internal and external realities, which invites the viewer to engage in a discussion with the theme and the ideas hidden within his compositions. The nature of his works explores an interest in a greater meaning beyond all the outer measures of physical reality.
Mariano’s work deals with the relationships between man and himself, man and machine, and man and God. Moreover, his work also delves into dualistic/oppositional elements of the human condition through the realm of the symbolic, mythic, mystical, and fantastic. He draws his inspiration heavily on the study of theology, philosophy, Jungian psychology, sociology, symbolism, and dreams.
He uses symbolic/iconic allegories to tell a story of the human character. He utilizes color and form to describe moral truth through dynamic, striking, and thought provoking works.
