My current projects have been pursuing the ideas of the modern artist/musician through redefinition. Redefinition through reinvestigation, reinvestigation through community and development of ideas. Closeness to community and the development of ideas through self criticism and analysis, the practice of knowing oneself more closely in relationship to those things around them, rather than being tied down to the limitations of selfish knowledge.
I am a human being, an artist, a painter, a photographer, an architect & a designer. I have been runing artistic communities in various cities for the past 8 years, and I, with my assistant and a number of other creative souls are about to begin our most triumphant attempt yet, capturing the creative force of downtown LA. A few years ago we all began a series of realizations. In our own ways we saw many if not most of our friends are artists/musicians. I saw that most modern artists must be composers. By this I mean: A musician or an artist today is a one person army, enabled by todays technologies in today's evolving and broadening field of art and artistic definition to be like a composer of a vast symphony.
If we are to make growth in the field of discovery today I imagine we must do it with many minds and a form of union between them. Something which reminds us we are unique not hopelessly different, and promotes furtherence through this understanding.
Yeah sure, i can say things like "i seek to bring the horizon into the living room." or "the ambience of my environment is meant to resonate in this hall or this painting." I can even say and mean "the intangible quality of light and shadow over form, the reverence and reverberation of acoustics and motions sewn into the fabric of structural technique has yeilded this response." And I can do that, but things like this are temporal, I will create many thousands of things with different feelings, if i claim such a thing now i become, very literally, a one trick pony convinced his is the best trick. _______________________________________ |
